One Thousand and Counting

A few months ago, when I started this blog, I wasn’t sure where I would go with it or if I’d really get into it. Well, today I’m still not entirely sure where I’m going with it, but I’m most definitely sure that I’ve gotten into it, and I love it. I’ve always loved writing – poems and thoughts mostly, fiction was never something I was good at – but I never quite knew what to do with my writing.

This week I hit and passed 1000 visits on my blog. A thousand times and counting that someone clicked my home page or one of my posts. What does that mean? Does it mean my writing and my pictures are worth reading and seeing? Is it just luck that people stumbled upon my blog once and may never return? Did I manage to interest some people or bring a smile to their faces? Could some of them relate to what I’ve written? Do some of them share an unspoken connection or secret with me?

I love writing and I love sharing thoughts that can make connections with people all over the world. I love the vastness and globalness (if that’s even a word) of the blogosphere. I never thought there would be a day where I would ever have a reason to use the word blogosphere! But here I am, using that word, because since June, it’s another global community I’ve had the chance to be a part of. It something that keeps me in touch with my TCK side, no matter where I am. It allows me to ‘meet’ fascinating people, incredibly talented writers and photographers I would never have met otherwise. I didn’t know I would love writing my blog so much, but it really brings me a deep contentment and satisfaction. Hopefully, life and memories will continue to inspire me for a long time, and you’ll continue reading.

Thank you to family, friends, and all the kind strangers and amazing bloggers who make my day, every day. Your visits and comments always make me smile and add a bounce to my step.

Here’s to hoping there will be another one thousand visits.

    1. Thanks for your comment! I’m looking forward to seeing how the path unfolds…and as long as there is writing in me, I’ll keep putting it out there!

  1. My former colleague, Matt DuAime, made a beautiful comparison one day. He was talking about how in ancient Greece, the pedagogues would walk around the agora and students could follow whoever interested them most. Matt felt that with Internet today this sort of concept was again being reached, as anyone with an internet conenction can ‘follow’ the words of the speaker they identify with most.

    1. I love that comparison. That’s really a beautiful way of seeing it. Apologies for the delay in answering – we’ve been without power for nearly a week, and it seems it’s not over yet! I’m looking forward to being reconnected, but more importantly to having heat, hot water and electricity back….

      1. Yep, “internet connection” would really be the key words 😉 But it was ok to be disconnected like that for a week. Made me realize that whatever I needed to check on the internet really wasn’t that urgent or important. You get by pretty good without it when you can’t have it, and it gave me the chance to read a fantastic book that has been sitting on my shelves for a while. Il faut toujours voir le bon cote des choses! 🙂

  2. I should probably mention that the reason I read your work is that you are 1) Unpretentious. Just a person talking to another person. Yay. 2) Your writing voice is very honest and because of that also easy to relate to. I love when someone has experiences to share with me but does it on a level that makes me feel like I am part of the learning. I feel included and that matters to me. 3) I love that you know more than I do about something and want to share it.

Did I mention you also made me laugh like a dork and that I quoted you on my Facebook page? When I quote you on my Facebook page it means you impressed me..so be complimented. LOL

    1. Your comment totally made my day. And I really needed something to make my day since we’ve been without power for a week now and we’re still in blackout. Did I mention it’s cold? Not fun. So finally getting a chance to check my blog and finding such an awesome comment was fantastic. Thank you for such kind and motivating words. What you said is exactly what I was hoping my blog could do. So really, when I say it made my day I should probably say it made my week, next week, the month of November…Get the gist? 🙂

Now onto the important stuff: I feel famous. What did you quote on your facebook page?? I am indeed complimented. Very complimented. Even more complimented because I make you laugh like a dork, which is probably the best way to laugh. I feel like I should offer you an autograph or something. 😉

‎”When I informed my mom that I’m aware of being weird, she laughed and said, “Oh come on Emily, stop kidding yourself; you’re normal.” I should have been comforted, but I was just disappointed. When you feel weird, you’d rather it be affirmed, so you don’t have to begin thinking that your feeling weird is weird, making you feel as though either you or everyone else is wrong.”

        I Totally agree!!

Rich Roach It all depends on your definition of weird. It would be weird to think you were weird for not thinking you were weird, so it’s probably less weird to think you were weird for thinking you were weird.
